Details - Shreshtha – This Sanskrit word translates as “Supreme”. The theme aims to convey and emphasise the supreme efforts that one must put to reach the zenith of Engineering excellence. Shreshtha, a one of its kind tech fest, is sure to leave you enthralled with its blend of innovative and challenging events with a pinch of enjoyment as well. This Voyage, called Shreshtha, possesses an X-Factor which distinguishes it from the plethora of Tech Fests across the country. Maritime technology is one of the most challenging disciplines across all Engineering fields. Seas and Oceans exhibit the most unpredictable forces of nature. A seafaring vessel, be it a Passenger vessel or an Oil Tanker is constantly exposed to the elements of nature when in the middle of a voyage. So it is upto the Maritime technology to design and operate those structures in such a meticulous manner that they are able to withstand those elements. This TechFest takes the subject of Maritime design operation And Management to a higher level and brings into focus innovative challenges and competitions related to the maritime sector.

Events -

#1 MAJOR EVENTS ( 29th - 31st march)

1. WATER EVENTS :

A. TUGOVELOX (Prizes worth: 20,000 & above)
> A floating structure is to be towed to a particular destination after negotiating some hurdles. The tug which reaches the finish line in minimum time, will qualify for the subsequent rounds of the competition..
B. CAPTOR-ATLANTIS (Prizes worth: 20,000 & above)
> Naval Mine deployment is a modern defense strategy in anti submarine warfare. In this competition, Captors (sea mines) have to be dropped on predefined spots and teams have to use their judgment to predict the accuracy of the drop, while taking into account the vessel motions and interference from small vessel generated waves.
C. HOVERCRAFTEX (Prizes worth: 20,000 & above)
>This event tests the design and maneuverability of a hovercraft while putting it through the rigors of a multi-obstacle race track. The track will consist of hurdles, different terrains and obstacles.

#2 NIGHT HAWK A unique event, where teams have to face a complete reversal of their natural rest cycle to work throughout the night, early into the morning.This is a 2 stage event. The first stage consists of a qualification round. The qualified teams will be given a problem statement at the beginning of the 2nd stage. They must utilize the available resources to solve the same. The best solution, according to the judge’s decision, will be deemed the winner.

#4 ROBOTICS WORKSHOP

> In this workshop, 2 sessions on Robotics will be conducted over a course of 2 days, by Introbots, a robotics group from IIT KHARAGPUR. At the end of the workshop, a Take-away kit will be given to each team (consisting of 4 members).

#5 LIVE PROJECT PRESENTATION

> A different perspective can give you a novel idea, with some hard work, it can result in a solution which will be a spark for a new era of innovations and we provide you the opportunity to show and inspire the world with what you have got.

#8 SOFTWARE CONTEST CAD- contest -This event will testify the visualization skills of an individual who aims to become a successful engineer.

#9 ASSEMBLY The event aims to give the hardcore engineers a chance to test their knowledge and assemble a regular engine which has been dismantled.

#10 MOOT COURT COMPETITION A maritime case will be provided and there will be two teams – Prosecutor and Accused. A Judge will chair the session and based on the participants’ interpretation of law, their handling of facts and their overall performance, the winner will be decided. FUN-o-FEST a) APPROXIMATION TEST This event will test the approximating ability of students in judging a quantity(length, time, angle etc.) through visual analysis. b) PHOTOGRAPHY c) POSTERMAKING/LOGOMAKING
